How do I identify the release of Version Workbench I am using?

Version 2.1 and lower:
Version Workbench stores the installed release in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Steltix\VersionWorkbench

Version 2.5 and up:
The spec and software version can be checked using appropriate buttons in the main screen.

Can I check in versions using Version Workbench?
Yes. This functionality is available in release 3.0.

How do I create a new project, because when I go into project maintenance it is not available?
The option to create a new project in VW is disabled when the initial project status for new projects (CNC setting in P98230) does not match the project status for development as defined in the PTW98000 processing options. Maintain the table that define in which combination of Status / Role / Environment Project Creation is allowed.

Is it possible to mass replace job queue names in batch versions?
This function is available since Version Workbench release 2.5. In version 3.0, the use of Wildcards to replace (parts of) Queuenames has been added.

Question 5

Is it possible to remove versions from an OMW project?
The fuction to mass maintain version lists in a project is available in release 3.0. The function includes the possibility to mass-remove versions from the entire system.

Question 6

We would like to be able to use search and replace functionality to change only the part of a literal in data selections that is equal to the find clause and only change this part into the replacement string. Is this possible?
Substring replaces are available in Release 3.0 and up.

Question 7

How many freezepoints should we generate?
Generally one freezepoint for each full package built makes sense. Within an environment it is not advised to make subsets. This is not necessary to work with subsets of versions: The QBE line allows for easy selections.
Since release 3.0, OMW project based freezepoints allow for quick and easy comparisons by project, to make constrained comparisons easier to manage.

Question 8

Why does the Version Workbench run on Development Clients only?
The logic VW uses contains business functions that only run on clients. The generation batch can be scheduled however, as long as OCM mappings force the associated logic to be run on local clients.
