Change, compare, backup and restore processing option values and data selections consistently across all of your versions.

The “Version Workbench” (VW) has an innovative and intuitive approach that allows you to mass change, compare, review, backup and restore the processing option values and data selections of both your interactive and batch versions.

Every Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne user recognizes the difficulties with the version changes associated with straightforward business process changes, such as introducing a new step and status, or eliminating one status in the order activity rules. The risk of forgetting one version is  high. Or, for example, what if a number of existing versions need to be copied for one entity and only the company or business unit data selection has to change? Or how do you prove that a certain processing option has changed since the go-live?

The Version Workbench contains tools to change
processing option values or data selection values simultaneously for multiple versions of different programs. By simply selecting the value, or selecting the versions to change the value for, the change is made for all associated versions. In addition, report versions will be automatically checked out when its data selection changes due to a mass update operation.

Mass Version Management

All Version Workbench operations are fully integrated with existing object management workbench (OMW) activity rules. As a result, your policies regarding checking in and out and promoting will remain untouched when using the VW. The VW also allows you to benefit from a very easy project maintenance tool, which lets you use wildcards on program names and versions in order to add multiple versions to a project simultaneously.

The VW contains logic to store processing option values and data selections by environment and point in time. This not only allows you to compare values between environments and between different points in time, but it also allows you to export these values to text files. These can then be imported and restored onto different machines and environments. These comparisons can be made on various levels, including OMW project level: Using the VW, you will know what you transfer, before transferring it.

The possibility to inquire about Freeze Points (saved
processing option and data selection values) makes it possible to use standard Oracle JD Edwards inquiries using its powerful QBE on grids. Now it is easy to see which versions use what document type, or what UBE’s select on a certain status! This simple inquiry, that we call Exploring, is possible for processing option values, data selection values and data sequences, and a respected tool for compliance auditors.

Accelerated Roll out

The Version Workbench is used by multi-company clients to speed up their roll outs: They use the powerful features to copy sets of versions, mass replace the data selections and option values, and last but not least copy complete task views and mass-change the versions referenced: The complete basis of a roll out is finished in hours, rather than weeks.
The Version Workbench removes all air out of the activities that relate to version– and menu maintenance, which is if you think about it a lot!

Version Workbench is available for all Oracle EnterpriseOne releases XE and up.
